They worked diligently to alleviate my pain.

Jane Koogler

In late May, 2009 I was happily working away planting my spring flowers. One minute I was bending and stooping enjoying being outside, the next minute I was a gardener with a painful pulled muscle. A week later, after icing and ibuprofen, my discomfort was not better. I decided I needed to seek help. I knew I wanted more than medication that would only mask the pain.

My decision was to seek physical therapy. My goal was to find the cause of the discomfort, get rid of it, and find ways to avoid this kind of injury in the future.

I had worked with Travis Sterling several years ago with good success and sought him out again. When I called for an appointment, his staff was professional and friendly. They were most accommodating in scheduling my first appointment, realizing I needed help soon. Travis worked diligently to alleviate my pain and set out homework for me that helped meet my objectives.

It is my privilege to endorse the care and service given me by Sterling Physical Therapy, PC. We are fortunate to have this kind of professional care available to us in Pella. As a community, we need to support this fine small business that has made a commitment to our area. ~Jane Koogler

Outstanding Care After Total Shoulder Replacement

Shoulder Replacement

I had full total shoulder replacement on October 20, 2008. I decided to have my physical therapy at Sterling Physical Therapy because I learned from several people who had the same surgery that they were very pleased with the therapy they received at Sterling. The recommendations were correct. I received outstanding care at Sterling. My therapy was administered by all members of the staff, but primarily by Rob Blom.

I think you look for the following characteristics in a therapy treatment: Knowledge, expertise, professionalism, compassion, patience and encouragement to work through the difficult times. Rehabilitation is not an easy process and it takes all the above characteristics in the therapist to work through the process and Sterling Physical Therapy staff displayed all these characteristics at the highest standard.

I give Sterling Physical Therapy the highest possible marks. With Highest Regard, Dave Bensink.

How can we help you achieve your goal?

Luanne

I like to call myself a runner. I don't set any speed records, but still can't imagine the day when I am unable to lace up my shoes and go for a run. I reached that point this spring when pain from tendonitis had gotten so bad that I had difficulty walking.

I contacted Travis Sterling and he was certain that he could help. I was concerned that I would have to see my primary physician for a referral, but found out that it was not necessary.

When I visited the clinic, Travis didn't give me the 'it's time for you to quit' speech. Instead, his approach was, 'How can we help you achieve your goal?' He didn't just patch me up and send me on my way. He took the time to explain how I could continue the therapy at home and what to do to prevent further injury.

After a few therapy visits and a new pair of shoe inserts, I'm back on the road. Thank you Travis! ~Luanne DeZwarte

6 Weeks Shaved Off Torn ACL Recovery

Joe Gilson

When I tore my ACL in football, I really didn't know what the next step would be. Since I tore my knee my junior year in football, I thought I would never be the same and my dream of playing college football would be over. Many friends told me that Sterling Physical Therapy was the place to go for this type of injury. I really thought before my injury that all physical therapy places were the same. There are three reasons why I no longer think this.

1) The staff at Sterling is incredible! They take the time to get to know you as a person and get to know your injury. They give you professional advice and are always on top of new ways to treat and prevent injuries. Rob Blom was my clinician, and over the course of five months, he and I became good friends. Rob pushed me very hard to get back to where I was. I tore my knee, but Rob also worked with my arms, hips, and feet. He really made me a better overall athlete so that when I was healed up, I would be better than what I was before I tore my ACL.

2) The facility is top notch!! When I first went to Sterling, I went to their old building, and I was impressed. Then when the new building opened, I was almost speechless. It's a very nice building. They also have the latest equipment. But one of the most breath taking things is the amount of flat screen T.V's. This is hardly a joke with a flat screen T.V. around every corner. With the cutting edge equipment, it is easy to see why I was back healthy so quick.

3) Free T-Shirts!!! This is a joke, but it is a very nice plus.

I would recommend Sterling to anyone in need of physical therapy, not just a torn ACL. I know my time there wasn't more special than anyone else’s, but the people at Sterling sure made me feel like that way. My original diagnosis was that I would be out for six months and that I would not be able to play basketball. With Rob Blom and the staff at Sterling’s help, I was able to come back for some of the basketball after only four and a half months! All these reasons are proof that Sterling Physical Therapy is the right choice for anybody who needs physical therapy.

Back on the golf course - EARLIER than expected!

Due to the misfortune of falling off a ladder while painting, I suffered a broken shoulder in two places. After months of being in an immobilizer and sling, with little or no movement, I was told it was going to take a lot of therapy to get back to where I was before the February 24 incident.

I knew right away I wanted Travis Sterling to do my therapy. I had heard very positive things about his work and knew he was who I wanted to work with. I also have nothing but positive things to say about Travis and his work. He was the BEST!!!

He knew I had a goal to be able to hold my grandson and to golf this summer, so we had a lot of work to do. He took my hopes of holding my grandson and getting back to normal as seriously as I did. All around, Travis is not only the BEST therapist, but an all-around great guy with a great personality and bedside manner. He worked hard to get me swinging my golf clubs again, and I was finally able to hold my grandson. He knew how important these things were to me and he made it happen. I felt it was a priority of his as well. I would recommend Travis to anyone in need of physical therapy!!! –Vicki Cowman

  Injury heals in record time

I slipped down with a ladder in August of 2007. I fractured my wrist and later found out that I had a severe rotator cuff injury as well. I had surgery on my wrist by Dr. Han, and later on my shoulder by Dr. Vande Lune. I started physical therapy at Sterling Physical Therapy where Travis worked with my arm initially and Rob took over the remainder of the therapy.

I cannot say enough good about Travis and Rob. They are experts in their field. I told Rob that I just wanted to get better as soon as possible and am overwhelmed by the short amount of time it took to get to where I am today. I would recommend Sterling Physical Therapy to anyone.

Seven-mile hike after knee replacement surgery

Before my knee replacement surgery, I could not walk more than a couple of blocks without extreme pain. After my surgery, I could walk, but I was very disappointed with my limited range of motion. After working with Travis and Rob, I see tremendous improvement. With the combination of therapy with them, and the exercises they encouraged me to do on my own, I am riding a bicycle again and was able to do a seven-mile hike. –Linda Porter
